A Lagos resident, Mr. Onabajo John Olaoluwa, has raised alarm over an alleged conspiracy, violent attack, and criminal trespass on his inherited land in Igbogbo, Ikorodu Local Government Area. According to a petition filed through his solicitors, the one-acre property, located along Faniyi Street, Olu Odo, has been forcefully occupied by armed thugs allegedly sponsored by his own family members: Mr. Sulaiman Onabajo, Mr. Abiodun Onabajo, and Mrs. Rukayat Jegede (née Onabajo).
The petition states that earlier this month, Mr. Olaoluwa’s engineer visited the site only to find that unknown individuals had encroached on the land. When confronted, heavily armed men allegedly threatened to eliminate anyone attempting to reclaim the property, including Mr. Olaoluwa himself.
Investigations revealed that the disputed land was part of a family inheritance, with each sibling receiving a portion from their late father. While other members sold their shares, Mr. Olaoluwa chose to retain his for future development. However, his relatives, allegedly backed by armed enforcers, have now taken possession of the land, erecting structures and preventing him from accessing it, despite his legal ownership and possession of a deed of gift.
The petition further claims that armed thugs remain stationed on the property, operating with impunity and boasting that they are above the law. The ongoing threats and intimidation have left Mr. Olaoluwa and his family in constant fear for their lives.
In light of these allegations, the petitioners are calling on authorities to intervene swiftly, investigate the matter, and take action to prevent further escalation, protect Mr. Olaoluwa’s legal rights, and restore order.
