Lagos – The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter on Wednesday, the 15th day of May, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Ademola Elegushi, the Oba of Ikateland, at his palace in Lagos.

Led by the Chairperson, NAWOJ Lagos Dr. Adeola Ekine, NAWOJ delegation was received warmly by HRM Elegushi and his Chiefs in Council.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between NAWOJ and the Ikateland monarch, as well as exploring areas of collaboration to promote the development of journalism and women empowerment in Nigeria.
During the visit, the NAWOJ Chairperson commended the Oba for his support for women empowerment and his contributions to the growth of journalism.

The Oba was also presented with a portrait of him as a gift for his belated birthday.
Oba Dr. Saheed Ademola Elegushi, in his response, praised NAWOJ Lagos for her efforts in promoting women participation in journalism and promised to continue supporting the association’s initiatives. He also emphasized the importance of responsible journalism in promoting national development, he promised to support NAWOJ, Lagos at her coming South West Zonal Summit in August.
The Kabiyesi encouraged journalists to always verify every information before sending it to the public, he also encouraged that journalists should support the Government, always put the right news forward not negative news.
