The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has highlighted the importance of professional proficiency and technical expertise in procurement management to achieve its goals. During the opening ceremony of a three-day in-house training for procurement officers, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, stressed that the agency aims to deliver quality services and meet the overall goals of President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The training is designed to equip procurement officers with the necessary skills to manage NASENI’s procurement processes effectively and in compliance with the Public Procurement Act 2007,” Mr. Halilu said. “We want to be the best in everything we do, and this training is essential to achieving that goal.”

Mr. Halilu encouraged participants to take the training seriously and apply what they learn in their daily work to make a positive impact. “It is essential that incumbent officers are trained and retrained to align with NASENI’s vision and mandate,” he added.

In his keynote address, Ag. Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Barr. Olusegun Omotola, represented by Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, highlighted NASENI’s crucial role in national infrastructure development and the importance of building skills and competencies for transparent and efficient public procurement.

“NASENI has a critical role to play in delivering quality infrastructure to Nigerians, and this requires a high level of professionalism in procurement management,” Barr. Omotola said. “We must ensure that every government agency complies with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Circulars on procurement plans and procurement records.”

The training is expected to address factors militating against effective performance of procurement-related activities and budget implementation. Participants are expected to gain extensive knowledge and experience in procurement management, which will improve service delivery and ensure compliance with procurement regulations.
