Federal Government Releases Funds for Withheld NASU Salaries and Retirees’ Benefits

The Federal Government has announced the release of funds to cover the payment of previously withheld salaries for members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) at Federal Universities, as well as benefits for retirees under the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS).

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) disclosed the fund release in a statement issued from Abuja on Saturday. According to the OAGF, payments to NASU members have already commenced, with several employees confirming receipt of their outstanding salaries.

The statement also highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian workers and retirees, aiming for prompt resolution of pending payments in both sectors.

The Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, reaffirmed this commitment, indicating that the government continues to prioritize efficient and timely disbursements for its workforce and retired citizens.
