…Plans to Elevate Global Financial Standards
The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) announces with pride the election of its Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, as Chair of the 41st session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR).
This prestigious position highlights Dr. Olowo’s expertise in corporate reporting and his commitment to advancing financial transparency on a global scale.
Dr. Olowo expressed deep gratitude for the appointment and pledged to prioritize transparency and comparability in financial reporting. “I am honored to lead the 41st session of UNCTAD ISAR,” he stated.
“Improving transparency in corporate reporting is key to unlocking global capital flows and fostering economic growth.”
As the new Chair of UNCTAD ISAR, Dr. Olowo’s leadership will be crucial in setting global standards for financial reporting. His election is a recognition of his efforts in transforming the FRC, particularly through initiatives like the introduction of Corporate Governance Guidelines for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME CGG) and the launch of Nigeria’s roadmap for sustainability reporting standards, in collaboration with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
Under his guidance, the FRC has positioned Nigeria as a leader in financial governance, with a mission focused on enhancing transparency, accountability, and access to global capital markets.
