On Saturday, November 17, 2024, the Rotary Clubs of Ojodu and Omole-Ojodu, in collaboration with the Young Christian Workers (YCW) of Nigeria from both the Church of the Holy Spirit, Omole, and Our Lady of Holy Rosary, Ogba, organized a successful 5km Walk to Keep Polio at Zero. The walk aimed to raise awareness and strengthen the global fight to end polio for good.
The event received strong support and traffic coordination from the Lagos State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ojodu and the Rotary Club of Ojodu Marshal Unit – RS 2.1 Unit 66, were on ground ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the walk.
A special thank you was extended to the Polio Team, led by Dr. Ime Okon, whose efforts continue to drive the fight against polio. The event was expertly executed by the Vice Chairman of the Rotary Club of Ojodu Polio Committee, Rotarian Johnpaul Chigbo.
The Presidents of both Rotary Clubs — Rotarian Osi-Evans Ikphunuekhai of the Rotary Club of Ojodu and Rotarian Henderson Bello ably represented by the Past President of the club Rotarian Ope Obafemi. The President of YCW Omole, Rotarian Martins Nnanna, as well as his counterpart from YCW Ogba Mrs. Glady Ejalen, expressed their joy and appreciation for the collaborative spirit of both Rotary Clubs, which provided the enabling environment for the YCW members to participate in this important cause.

Rotarian Osi-Evans Ikphunuekhai and his counterpart from the Rotary Club of Omole Ojodu expressed their excitement over the success of the event, noting that this collaboration marked a positive step toward aligning both clubs for future joint endeavors. The walk not only raised awareness about polio but also demonstrated the power of community collaboration in the fight against this deadly disease.
Rotarian Martins Nnanna and Mrs. Gladys Ejalen both expressed heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to join forces with the Rotary Clubs of Ojodu and Omole, thanking them for their commitment to making the event a reality. The Presidents emphasized that this collaboration will continue to grow, fostering further partnership for the common good of all.
