The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has strongly refuted the false media report titled “FG not investigating Air Peace – FCCPC,” which has been circulating on various online platforms. The Commission clarified that the story, which appears to be syndicated and sponsored, did not originate from the FCCPC, and the public is advised to disregard it.
The FCCPC reiterated its commitment to its official statement issued on December 1, 2024, which confirmed that inquiries are underway into widespread consumer complaints in the banking, telecommunications, and aviation sectors. As part of these investigations, Air Peace is being scrutinized over allegations of exploitative ticket pricing, including significant hikes in prices for advance bookings on specific domestic routes.
These investigations are being conducted in line with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, aimed at addressing poor service delivery, unfair practices, and potential violations of consumer rights. The inquiries are designed to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, enhance transparency, and protect the interests of consumers.
The FCCPC reaffirmed that the inquiry into Air Peace commenced on December 3, 2024, as scheduled, and remains ongoing. The Commission is currently reviewing information and responses from Air Peace and other parties under investigation. Appropriate actions will be taken if any violations are identified.
The Commission calls on the public to rely exclusively on verified communications from the FCCPC for updates on this matter.
