The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, has been named the Pacesetter Entertainment and Recognition Award (PERA) 2024 Man of the Year. The prestigious ceremony takes place today at Mauve 21 Events Centre, Ibadan, alongside awards for other distinguished citizens of Oyo State.
PERA, established nearly a decade ago, honors individuals and organizations making impactful contributions despite challenges. According to its Chief Executive, Rotimi Martins (Alariwo of Africa), Adedeji was recognized for his innovative, customer-focused leadership, which has simplified tax processes and boosted revenue generation.
Since his appointment 15 months ago, Adedeji has overseen record-breaking revenue collection, significantly increasing FIRS’s contribution to the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). Under his leadership, FIRS’s share of FAAC revenues rose from 60% to an unprecedented 70%, reflecting his strategic reengineering of Nigeria’s tax system.
In response to the recognition, Adedeji expressed gratitude while emphasizing his commitment to improving Nigeria’s tax administration and revenue generation. PERA commended his achievements, noting that without his leadership, Nigeria’s financial position could be far more precarious.
The award highlights the transformative role of FIRS in ensuring stable government financing and celebrates Adedeji’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s economic resilience.
