The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has unveiled #InvestNigeria, a national enlightenment campaign aimed at attracting more Nigerians to the capital market.
Speaking at the launch, SEC Director General, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, emphasized the campaign’s goal of promoting investment in the market through education and advertising.
Agama highlighted how the initiative would improve financial literacy by educating potential investors on the risks and rewards of capital market products such as IPOs, bonds, and mutual funds. He noted that increasing investor participation would boost liquidity, enhance market transparency, and drive economic growth.
“Encouraging investment in the capital market can stimulate economic activity, create jobs, and deepen financial services accessibility,” Agama said.
The campaign will feature billboards nationwide and leverage social media, email marketing, and collaborations with financial influencers to reach a broader audience. SEC also plans to host seminars and workshops to further investor education.
The SEC chief underscored the importance of equipping investors with tools to identify safe investment opportunities and avoid fraudulent schemes. “Protecting investors starts with knowledge. We need to educate them about safety, risk avoidance, and recognizing scams,” he added.
Agama reiterated SEC’s commitment to fostering growth in Nigeria’s knowledge-driven capital market through partnerships and continuous investor education.
