Retired public servants in Osun State, under the Forum of 2011/2012 Retired Public Servants, have urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to implement an N18,000 minimum wage mandated by a court ruling.

The pensioners staged a protest in Osogbo on Monday, but security personnel barred them from accessing the governor’s office. Despite this, they vowed to sustain their agitation, accusing the government of failing to honour an Industrial Court decision from 2017 and a subsequent appellate court ruling in February 2024.

Yemi Lawal, the group’s leader, criticized the state government for paying only N9,000 instead of the court-approved N18,000. He also denounced a recent N25,000 relief payment, calling it inadequate for addressing their grievances.

The group is demanding payment of arrears and adjustments to pensions and gratuities, arguing that the delay violates their constitutional rights.
