Mouka, Nigeria’s foremost manufacturer of mattresses and bedding products, welcomed the New Year with its long-standing tradition of celebrating families blessed with the first babies born on January 1. This thoughtful initiative underscores the company’s dedication to enhancing lives and promoting quality sleep, starting from infancy.

In collaboration with public healthcare facilities across 13 states, including Lagos, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Gombe, Kano, and Plateau, Mouka gifted families with newborns Dreamtime Baby Mattresses, specially designed for infant comfort and well-being. Other items, including pillows, diapers, and baby jelly, were also presented to bring joy to the new parents.

Celebrating with Lagos State

A highlight of this year’s celebration was Mouka’s partnership with the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu. Together, they celebrated the first babies of the year at prominent hospitals, including Isolo General Hospital, Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, and Ikorodu General Hospital.

At Ikorodu General Hospital, Baby Olaolu, a girl weighing 2.75 kg, was born at 12:34 a.m., marking the hospital’s first birth of the year. At Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, twins Osayomi—a girl and a boy—were born minutes apart at 12:14 a.m. and 12:15 a.m., respectively. Baby Lawal, weighing 2.7 kg, became the first baby at Isolo General Hospital at 1:32 a.m.

The celebrations in Lagos were made even more memorable with a party hosted at Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital for families of all first babies born in Lagos from 2020 to 2024.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Dimeji Osingunwa, Chief Commercial Officer of Mouka, represented by Brand Manager Tolani Tijani, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to nurturing healthy sleep habits:
“As advocates of quality sleep, Mouka is committed to fostering healthy sleep practices right from infancy. Our Dreamtime mattresses are designed to support optimal physical and cognitive development, offering water-resistant and breathable features to keep babies comfortable throughout the night.”

Nationwide Impact

Beyond Lagos, Mouka extended its goodwill to other states. In Ibadan, Oyo State, Baby Asimiyu was delivered at 12:01 a.m., while Baby Olaniyi followed at 2:43 a.m. Representatives visited hospitals across Nigeria to present gifts to families, spreading joy and reinforcing the brand’s dedication to positively impacting communities.

Grateful parents expressed heartfelt appreciation for Mouka’s generosity, emphasizing how the company’s actions brought hope and relief during a significant moment in their lives.
