he Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, has reaffirmed her commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for corruption, emphasizing the use of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to enhance transparency in the country’s financial operations.
Madein made this pledge during a meeting with ICAN President, Dr. Davidson Alaribe, and his team in Abuja. She highlighted the significant role the Office of the Accountant General plays in maintaining high accounting standards, noting that approximately 70 percent of the agency’s workforce comprises accountants.
In her statement, Madein affirmed that her office would continue its partnership with ICAN to promote robust, transparent accounting practices, aligning with the shared goals of both institutions. She stressed the importance of upholding the core values of integrity, ethics, and accountability, while remaining open to constructive criticism and recognition in the field.
Dr. Alaribe, on his part, expressed his appreciation for the support Madein had extended to ICAN, particularly during the recent ICAN Conference. He also commended her efforts in rejuvenating the Federal Treasury Academy in Orozo, Abuja, a move that is seen as instrumental in advancing the accounting profession
