The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, alongside senior officials of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), visited Brightwaters Energy Limited in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, commending the company’s enhanced technical capabilities for oil and gas industry projects.
The tour, covering Brightwaters’ facilities in Choba and Emohua, followed an earlier visit by Engr. Ogbe in May 2024, during which he pledged the Board’s support for indigenous service firms to boost local content and job creation. This latest assessment aimed to evaluate the company’s operational improvements and readiness for upcoming industry contracts.
Engr. Ogbe reaffirmed NCDMB’s commitment to promoting qualified local firms, emphasizing their role in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic agenda. He acknowledged Brightwaters’ track record in exploration and production projects, serving clients such as SPDC and Chevron Nigeria Limited. Urging oil operators to prioritize indigenous firms, he stressed the need for top-quality service delivery.
Brightwaters’ Community and Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr. Solomon Aluge, confirmed ongoing engagements with SPDC, highlighting the firm’s expertise in heavy and light fabrication, as well as onshore and offshore pipeline installations. CEO Mr. Scott Gregory reiterated the company’s extensive capabilities, detailing past projects and current mobilization for Chevron and Tulcan pipeline works.
During the facility tour, officials inspected a blast furnace used for smelting and the Sea Horizon Derrick Lay Barge, a multipurpose offshore construction vessel with a heavy-lift capacity of 1,320 tons, designed for marine construction activities such as pipeline installation.
