NNPC Ltd, in partnership with private investors, has launched five mini-Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. The plants, with a combined capacity of 97 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscf/d), mark a significant move toward enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and industrial growth.

The plants—NNPC Prime LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete—are part of the Federal Government’s Gas Revolution Agenda. NNPC Ltd holds stakes in three of the plants, with Prime LNG holding a 90% stake. The plants aim to increase energy access, reduce carbon emissions, and support off-grid industrialization.

Mele Kyari, NNPC Ltd’s Group CEO, emphasized the project’s importance for job creation, economic growth, and the commercialization of gas. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, and Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, also lauded the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the government’s energy and industrialization goals.
