The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, has assured Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria (SHIN) of the Board’s support in securing new oil industry projects and expanding into renewable energy.

During a meeting at the NCDMB Lagos liaison office on Friday, SHIN’s Managing Director, Mr. Jin Lee, led a delegation to discuss the company’s in-country capacities, including its heavy fabrication and FPSO integration facilities at the SHI MCI free zone, Takwa Bay, Lagos.

Lee highlighted SHIN’s contributions to Total Energies’ Egina deepwater project and expressed concerns over the facility’s inactivity since the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged NCDMB to facilitate introductions to the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) and other international clients to attract business and position Nigeria as a regional hub for oil and gas services.

SHIN also announced plans to diversify into renewable energy by manufacturing floating foundations and related assets for wind farms and other projects.

Engr. Ogbe welcomed the company’s initiatives, pledging NCDMB’s support in promoting SHIN’s capabilities and mobilizing patronage. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with indigenous service providers to boost local content and job creation.

The NCDMB boss further assured that the Board would visit SHIN’s facilities alongside representatives from international and indigenous oil firms to assess capacities and foster new partnerships.
