On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) inaugurated a chapter at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Abuja. ICAN President, Davidson Alaribe, praised FIRS for being the largest employer of chartered accountants in the country, with over 2,800 ICAN members, out of a national total of 66,000.
Alaribe commended FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji for his leadership in transforming the agency, vital to Nigeria’s economic growth. He urged the newly inaugurated chapter to uphold high ethical standards and establish a strong foundation for the future.
Adedeji, a Fellow of ICAN, expressed pride in FIRS’ achievements and support for the new chapter. Pioneer chairperson, Dr. Josephine Onyia, vowed to cultivate professional development within the chapter and contribute to national economic advancement.
The event also saw the appointment of other key officers, including Mrs. Adenike Adegoke (Vice-Chairperson) and Abdurauf Aderemi (General Secretary).
