The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter, has partnered with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Command to strengthen road safety advocacy and public enlightenment efforts. This collaboration was solidified during a courtesy visit by NAWOJ Lagos to the FRSC Sector Headquarters in Ojodu, Lagos.
The visit aimed to foster a productive partnership between both organizations in promoting responsible media reportage, raising public awareness on road safety, and enhancing collaboration between journalists and the FRSC.
The NAWOJ Lagos delegation, led by Dr. Mrs. Adeola Ekine (Chairperson, NAWOJ Lagos State Chapter), was warmly received by Sector Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat and his team, which included:

In her address, Dr. Ekine commended the FRSC Lagos Command for its continuous efforts in ensuring safer roads across the state. She emphasized the vital role of journalists, particularly women in the media, in educating the public on road safety measures and responsible driving habits.
She further highlighted the need for sustained public enlightenment campaigns and called for an active NAWOJ-FRSC partnership to ensure the accurate dissemination of traffic regulations, safety measures, and emergency response protocols.
In response, Sector Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to partnering with NAWOJ Lagos. He acknowledged that road safety is a collective responsibility and stressed the media’s crucial role in shaping public perception and behavior.
Commander Hamzat also underscored the importance of responsible media reportage, urging journalists to verify facts before publication to prevent misinformation about road incidents. He encouraged close collaboration with the FRSC Public Relations Office to ensure the public receives accurate and timely information.
Recognizing Commander Hamzat’s dedication to road safety and public service, NAWOJ Lagos honored him as a “NAWOJ Lagos Ambassador.” This distinction highlights his unwavering commitment to reducing road crashes and fostering a safer road culture through collaboration with media professionals.
NAWOJ Lagos pledged to leverage its media platforms to enhance public awareness on road safety and promote responsible driving behavior. Dr. Ekine assured the FRSC Lagos Command of NAWOJ’s continued collaboration in amplifying safety messages and advocating for road users’ best practices.
