The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. has successfully contained a fire outbreak on the dry crude storage barge BESTAF5 at Cawthorne Channel 1, Rivers State.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 14:10 hours on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, spread to other barges but did not affect flow station operations. Thanks to the swift intervention of emergency teams and industry partners, the fire was brought under control without any casualties.
NNPC Ltd. reaffirmed its commitment to safety, environmental protection, and operational integrity.
