Jumia Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to gender inclusion and empowerment by hosting the ‘Accelerate Action’ seminar in celebration of International Women’s Day 2025. The event, held on March 7 at Pier Place Amphitheatre, Yaba, Lagos, and attended by over 200 online participants, aimed to foster discussions on accelerating women’s success across various sectors.

Speaking at the seminar, Risper Obure, Head of Human Resources, emphasized Jumia’s dedication to building an inclusive workplace where women are equipped to thrive. “At Jumia, we believe that empowering women is key to building a more inclusive and innovative workplace,” she stated.

The event featured a panel discussion with female leaders within Jumia. Chinenye Odu, Legal Counsel, highlighted the importance of aligning personal initiatives with business goals. Funmilola Adebayo, Facilities Manager, discussed setting SMART goals and fostering continuous progress. Shola Ositelu, Head of Commercial Operations and Revenue Management, emphasized resilience, mentorship, and time management as keys to leadership success. Sheila Wagio, Head of Advertising, encouraged women to view setbacks as opportunities for growth.

The seminar concluded with a call to action for women to challenge societal norms and advocate for themselves. Jumia Nigeria’s initiative continues to drive meaningful conversations around gender equality, promoting a workplace culture that supports the advancement of women.
