Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, a leading Pension Fund Administrator in Nigeria, has successfully completed the renovation of Government Day Secondary School in Akampka, Cross River State. The initiative, aimed at tackling infrastructural challenges facing the institution, marks a significant step towards enhancing education in the community.
The school, which serves 850 students and 40 staff members from six local communities, received extensive improvements, including the refurbishment of three classroom blocks, provision of new classroom furniture, and upgrading of toilet facilities to ensure proper sewage management. Additionally, a reliable water supply system was installed, significantly improving the learning environment for students and staff.
Speaking on the project, Olumide Oyetan, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, described the initiative as a vital investment in the community’s educational landscape. “Investing in the education and well-being of our youth is not merely an obligation; it is a powerful opportunity to cultivate hope and bring about meaningful changes within our communities. By revitalising institutions like Government Day Secondary School, we are tackling immediate challenges while laying the groundwork for a brighter future,” Oyetan said.
The deteriorating condition of the school’s facilities had necessitated urgent intervention, which Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers undertook to ensure uninterrupted educational progress for children in the area. Beyond restoring critical infrastructure, the project aims to inspire local communities to further invest in educational development.
Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers has reiterated its commitment to supporting the communities where it operates through various corporate social investment initiatives.
The revitalised Government Day Secondary School now stands as a beacon of hope and progress, ready to empower students with the tools needed for future success. The company has invited the public to join in fostering community development and empowerment through such impactful projects.
