Julius Berger Nigeria Plc continued its commitment to community empowerment last Friday by providing vital business tools to 200 women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The gesture, part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, sparked celebrations among beneficiaries who praised the firm for its consistent support in enhancing livelihoods

Speaking at the event held at the Cyprian Ekwensi Cultural Centre, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, FCT Mandate Secretary for Women Affairs, applauded Julius Berger’s dedication to uplifting women. She highlighted the company’s reputation as a top-tier construction giant in Nigeria, renowned for timely and high-quality infrastructure projects.
“The International Conference Centre was built by Julius Berger in six months. They were given a challenge, and they delivered. Even with their current road projects, they are setting new records by delivering before deadlines,” Benjamins-Laniyi noted.
The Director of the Women Development Department, Mrs. Aina Taiyo Sanni, described the initiative as a dream come true, expressing hopes for a sustained partnership between Julius Berger and the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat.
Julius Berger’s Chief Risk Officer, Mrs. Shakira Mustapha, reiterated the company’s commitment to promoting women’s economic inclusion, emphasizing the transformative impact of empowering women on families and communities.
“When you empower a woman, you empower her family and the entire community. Our collaboration with the FCT Women Affairs Ministry is a testament to our dedication to community growth and national progress,” Mustapha stated.
The initiative, part of International Women’s Day celebrations, provided recipients with tools such as sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, and gas cookers.
Beneficiaries like Mrs. Patricia Amos expressed gratitude, saying, “I am really excited to have this gift. It’s a big relief, and I sincerely thank Julius Berger for remembering us.”
