The Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) has elected Mr. Tola Adenubi of the Nigerian Tribune as its new Chairman to lead the association for the next three years. The election, held in Lagos on Thursday, saw journalists from various media outlets covering the transportation sector vote in new executives to replace the outgoing leadership.
The newly elected executive committee includes:
Tola Adenubi (Nigerian Tribune) – Chairman
Temitope Adebayo (Daily Times) – Vice Chairman
Seun Ibiyemi (NewsDirect) – Secretary
David Adekunle (Voice of Nigeria, VON) – Treasurer
Mathew Ukachnwa (New Nigeria) – Internal Auditor
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Adenubi expressed gratitude to members for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the association. He pledged to enhance professionalism within TCAN, foster collaboration with key stakeholders, and advocate for improved infrastructure and policies that would drive growth in Nigeria’s transportation sector.
The new Chairman also promised to implement initiatives aimed at boosting the welfare of transportation correspondents and strengthening their capacity to report effectively on the sector.
In his outgoing speech, former Chairman Mr. Yinka Aderibigbe of The Nation Newspaper thanked members for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. He urged the new leadership to push the association forward for the collective good of all members.
TCAN is the umbrella body for journalists covering Nigeria’s transportation industry, with members drawn from media organizations such as ThisDay, Guardian, Punch, The Nation, Daily Trust, Tribune, NewsDirect, Daily Times, Daily Sun, Vanguard, Blue Print, AIT, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Voice of Nigeria (VoN), TVC, and others.
