Arik Air, operating under the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), recorded a strong performance in 2024, transporting 2,239,176 passengers and operating 10,699 flights, according to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The airline accounted for 19.3% of total domestic passenger traffic, ranking second only to Air Peace. Despite financial and legal hurdles, aviation experts credit AMCON’s intervention for keeping Arik Air competitive in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Aviation analyst Olumide Ohunayo noted the airline’s resilience, while Roland Iyayi of Top Brass Aviation praised AMCON’s efforts in stabilizing operations.
The NCAA report also highlighted Arik’s low passenger complaints and zero baggage losses, further cementing its reputation for reliability. Industry observers suggest that with increased investment, Arik Air could further expand its market share.
