Governor Charles Soludo’s transformative efforts in Anambra State have once again drawn praise, this time on the popular programme Voices of Ndi Anambra, where All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chieftain, Obi Ochije Modilim, commended the Governor’s achievements—especially in infrastructure and urban renewal.

The show, hosted by Uchechukwu Ebunam and Favour Asiro, featured Modilim highlighting the remarkable turnaround in Awka and other parts of the state under Governor Soludo’s leadership.

Modilim recalled that at its creation in 1991, Awka bore no resemblance to a state capital, comparing it to the slum of Okpoko before its recent regeneration. “Back then, Awka had only electricity, water, and a general hospital. It was often ridiculed as the worst state capital in Nigeria—until God sent Soludo, and everything changed,” he said.

He described how Governor Soludo, upon assuming office, personally visited flood-prone areas within Awka and was alarmed by the damage and displacement caused by seasonal flooding. Within three months, the Governor launched a comprehensive regeneration project in Agu-Awka, mobilizing contractors to construct drainage systems and rebuild affected areas.

“Today, people in Awka can sleep peacefully. Roads are accessible, flooding is under control, and life has improved significantly,” Modilim stated.

He also praised the Governor for delivering impactful public amenities, such as the Fun City leisure park and the long-awaited Government House complex—breaking a 34-year jinx since Anambra’s creation.

Speaking further, Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, described Governor Soludo’s approach as solution-driven and unmatched in the state’s history.

Governor Soludo’s administration continues to earn recognition for its bold steps in redefining governance, urban development, and public service delivery in Anambra.
