The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended operations on the Warri-Itakpe train route for 72 hours following a technical engine failure recorded on Tuesday, April 9, 2025.
The temporary suspension was confirmed in a statement issued by NRC’s Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, via his official X account on Thursday. According to the corporation, the halt in service is to allow for a comprehensive audit of the train’s systems and to resolve all identified technical issues.
Henrietta Eregare, the NRC’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized that the pause is a safety measure designed to ensure reliable and secure service once operations resume.
