The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is partnering with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to roll out a nationwide enlightenment campaign focused on financing small businesses through the capital market.

This was disclosed by the Director General of SEC, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, during a strategic meeting with SMEDAN officials in Abuja on Tuesday. He stated that both agencies would jointly develop and disseminate co-branded financial literacy materials and SME investment-readiness toolkits to support the initiative.

Agama explained that the engagement is part of efforts to deepen support for small businesses through enhanced access to market-based funding. He emphasized that the campaign aligns with the mandate of SEC’s newly established Office of Small Business Advocacy (OSBA), which serves as a direct interface with SMEs seeking capital through securities issuance.
