Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has been honoured as one of Nigeria’s Most Influential Corporate Voices by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). The recognition came during the 2025 National Spokespersons Awards, held at the conclusion of the 2nd Nigeria Spokespersons Summit in Abuja, jointly organised by the NIPR and the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Chairman of the Awards Planning Committee, Mr. Segun McMedal, announced Julius Berger as one of only three corporate entities to earn the distinction for the 2024/2025 review year. He noted that the recognition was based on several key criteria, including clarity and consistency in messaging, media engagement frequency, narrative impact, and the use of innovative communication tools and platforms.
“Julius Berger demonstrated exceptional skill in communicating its brand narrative while maintaining message integrity across traditional and emerging channels,” McMedal said. “Its media visibility, storytelling strength, and the strategic use of technology all played crucial roles in earning this recognition.”
In a related development, the company’s Media Relations Manager, Emmanuel Isibor, also won the Outstanding Spokesperson in Crisis Management (Private Sector) award. His selection was based on Julius Berger’s sustained media visibility in 2024 despite sectoral challenges, as well as his adept handling of public communication during sensitive periods.
Speaking during the event, NIPR President Dr. Ike Neliaku said the awards highlight the importance of professional spokespersons in building trust and strengthening institutional credibility. He described the summit as a platform for capacity building, collaboration, and peer learning among Nigeria’s communication professionals.
Declaring the summit open, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, praised the NIPR for upholding ethical standards in public relations. Echoing this, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, emphasized the importance of truthful leadership communication in deepening Nigeria’s democracy.
He warned that misinformation threatens democratic progress and urged communicators to see public relations not as propaganda but as a vehicle for truth. “When communication is rooted in integrity, citizens are empowered to make informed decisions and hold leaders accountable,” he said.
Dignitaries at the summit included former Information Ministers Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Chief Edem Duke, former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, and Chairman of the House Committee on Information.
