Engineering giant Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is set to deliver one of Lagos State’s most ambitious road infrastructure projects—Opebi-Mende Link Bridge and connecting roads—by May 2025, offering a long-term solution to the city’s traffic congestion.

Project Manager Dymitry Denysenko confirmed that key components of the project, including the Opebi Road, Maryland U-turn, Odo Alaro Bridge, and two underpasses, are either completed or nearing completion. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the project deadline, despite complex engineering challenges.

“Every milestone we’ve achieved brings us closer to transforming mobility in the Ikeja-Ojota corridor,” Denysenko said, noting that the infrastructure will ease commuter stress, enhance connectivity, and spur economic activity.

The project, tagged a “legacy project” by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, spans 4.52km and includes a 640m bridge, 40m-deep bored piles, and six major construction deliverables. It was awarded in 2022 to address persistent traffic snarls along the critical traffic corridor.

“The people are the ultimate beneficiaries,” the Lagos State Government said, pledging continued commitment to delivering dividends of democracy.

Julius Berger is also executing major reconstruction works on Idumagbo Avenue, Adeniji Adele, and surrounding roads in Lagos Island—another high-density area—aimed at improving the business environment and urban mobility.

Regional Manager, Technical, Region West, Christl Thomas, said: “What we are building at Idumagbo reflects the quality and transformative impact we deliver on every project.”
