A century ago, a vision took shape that would transform generations of young men across Nigeria and beyond. Founded in May 1925, The African Lads Brigade was created to instill faith, discipline, and service through Bible teachings, military drills, and music.
Inspired by models from Glasgow, Scotland, the movement began with four pioneer companies under the African Church in Lagos. From these roots, it grew into a transcontinental force, with presence in the Republic of Benin, the UK, and the US.
As the Brigade celebrates its Centenary Anniversary, it not only honors the past but reaffirms its mission. The legacy of leaders like Late E.I. Joseph, Late Bishop Aboyade Cole, and recently passed Late J. O. Ajibode is etched in the hearts of current members and leaders who keep the torch burning.
The celebration features a Road Walk and Street Awareness Campaign on Saturday, 24th May 2025, starting from the National Secretariat in Ebute Metta to Arch Cathedral Bethel, Lagos. The Grand Finale and Awards Presentation will follow on Sunday, 25th May.
Also planned is the Centenary edition of the Annual National Camp—The Centenary Camp – Eko 2025. These camps continue to build unity and leadership through music, drills, vocational training, and moral teaching.
The African Lads Brigade is not just an organization—it is a movement. As it enters its second century, its commitment to shaping disciplined and godly individuals remains unshaken.
God bless the African Lads Brigade.
