The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the South West Development Commission (SWDC) and for appointing Dr. Charles Akindiji Akinola as its pioneer Managing Director, alongside Mrs. Nike Omoworare to a key leadership role.

In a statement released by Otunba Moses Olafare, Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, the monarch expressed deep appreciation for the President’s visionary leadership in creating the commission aimed at addressing the socio-economic and infrastructural challenges facing the South West region.

The Ooni highlighted Dr. Akinola’s vast expertise in public-private partnerships, rural enterprise development, and international cooperation as essential qualities that will guide the SWDC towards meaningful progress in tackling infrastructural deficits, ecological concerns, and security issues across the region.

He also commended Mrs. Omoworare for her unwavering commitment to regional development, emphasizing that her inclusion in the commission reflects the administration’s dedication to inclusive governance.

Expressing confidence in the SWDC’s leadership, the monarch urged both appointees to embrace their roles with integrity, dedication, and a clear focus on delivering tangible benefits to the people of the South West.

Finally, the Ooni called on all stakeholders—including traditional institutions, state governments, and civil society groups—to unite in supporting the commission’s mission to transform the South West into a vibrant center of economic growth and cultural renaissance.
