Teachers across Nigeria now have a chance to win ₦1 million as 1 Million Teachers (1MT) launches a national challenge to spotlight inspiring stories of educators who are making a difference.
The initiative comes ahead of the Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025, a landmark gathering expected to bring together over 60,000 teachers at the iconic Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on September 20.
Seyi Anifowose, Director of Strategic Partnerships at 1MT and convener of the conference, said the goal is to celebrate and elevate educators who have gone above and beyond to inspire their students.
“As we prepare for the largest teachers’ conference in Nigeria’s history, we want to showcase stories of exceptional impact—no matter the school, region, or challenge,” Anifowose said.
To enter the challenge, teachers must first register for the conference and then share their impact stories on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn, tagging @lettherebeteachers, @oluwaseyi_anifowose, and @onemillionteachers. Posts should include the hashtags #LetThereBeTeachers2025 and #TeachersMatter. The deadline for submissions is August 15, 2025.
Anifowose also revealed that the event has received endorsement from the Lagos State Government and that efforts are underway to secure recognition from the Guinness World Records, in a bid to immortalise this milestone for Nigeria’s education sector.
Attendance is free, and the winner of the ₦1 million challenge will be announced live at the conference.
