The Lagos Chapter of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Alumni Association has pledged technical support and strategic collaboration to drive sustainable development in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Led by its chairman, Mr. Gafar Odubote, the alumni association made this commitment during a courtesy visit to Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, the LGA chairman, over the weekend in Abeokuta.
Odubote emphasized the need for mutual collaboration between the alumni body and the local government, offering the association’s pool of professionals for advisory, technical, and developmental support.
“As an association, we are committed to translating our human capital into actionable, community-impacting solutions. Your election as chairman was not only well deserved but also a pride to all MAPOLY alumni,” Odubote said.
He introduced the group’s MESSAGE agenda—Membership Empowerment, Sustainable Structure, Alumni Growth, and Engagement—as a strategic framework for supporting initiatives that benefit both the alumni community and the public.
Responding, Oyegbola-Sodipo appreciated the visit and highlighted key projects under his administration, including the establishment of an enterprise and skills development centre, a planned economic and security summit, and upgrades in education and healthcare infrastructure. He also unveiled plans for a waste-to-wealth programme, improved power supply, digital inclusion, and street naming for enhanced civic planning.
The visit concluded with a tour of the secretariat and the presentation of a symbolic award to the chairman titled ‘The Spirit of Ogun’—a plaque inspired by Olumo Rock and the legendary tree, symbolizing strength, rootedness, and visionary leadership.
