Preparations are in top gear for the 2025 edition of the SUPERNEWS Nigeria Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference, with Johnson Chukwu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cowry Asset Management Limited, announced as the keynote speaker. The high-profile event is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, starting at 10 a.m.

With the theme “Power of AI: Enhancing Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction for Better Financial Services Experience,” the conference will explore how artificial intelligence is redefining financial services in Nigeria. Discussions will focus on AI’s role in automation, customer service, fraud prevention, and risk management, with leading voices in finance, technology, and regulation set to take the stage.

Convener of the event and Publisher of SUPERNEWS Nigeria, Ngozi Onyeakusi, described Chukwu’s selection as keynote speaker as fitting, citing his decades of experience and thought leadership in the financial services industry. Chukwu, a veteran investment banker and economic analyst, brings a wealth of knowledge from his work across banking, asset management, and capital market development.

He founded Cowry Asset Management after holding senior roles at several major institutions including Spring Bank Plc, Guardian Express Trust Limited, Diamond Bank Plc, and Intercontinental Bank Plc. A University of Lagos graduate with a second-class upper degree in Accounting, he also holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He has undergone executive education at the IESE Business School in Barcelona and Wharton Business School in Pennsylvania.

Other distinguished speakers confirmed for the event include Adeolu Adewumi-Zer, Founder and CEO of ZER Consulting Africa; Thaibat Adeniran, former Managing Director of Hilal Takaful Insurance; Uju Ogubunka, President of the Bank Customers Association of Nigeria (BCAN); and Ayokunle Olubunmi, Head of Financial Institutions Ratings at Augusto & Co.

The conference will be chaired by Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group. It will attract regulators, technology experts, financial service professionals, small business owners, and key players from both the formal and informal sectors.
