Over 200 pupils from 26 public and private schools across Ogun State gathered at Makogi Primary School for the inaugural Ultimate Mind Challenge 2025, a vibrant contest of intellect and innovation powered by Dolly Children Foundation and the REEL Foundation.

The day-long event, held in Makogi, Magboro, featured three key competitions—Spelling Bee, Chess, and Scrabble—designed to spark curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration among young learners. With sponsorship from the Britain Nigeria Educational Trust (BNET) and UAC Foods, the producers of Gala snacks and Supreme ice cream, the challenge combined learning with fun and fostered social responsibility.

Emerging victorious from intense rounds of wordplay and strategy were 15 standout pupils. Olatunde Esther of NESGEL School topped the Grade 4 Spelling Bee, while Ohia Paula of All Precious Worth School led the Grade 5 category. Olatunde Joseph, also of NESGEL, claimed the chess title, and the Scrabble team of Victor Azubuzor and Kalejaye Fatimah from Marshal School secured the top spot in their category.

“This challenge is designed to show them that brilliance exists in every child,” said Mrs. Ajoke Adeola, co-organizer and representative of the REEL Foundation. “We’re planting seeds of courage, intellect, and community.”

In a moving session, pupils inscribed their hopes for the future on a “Commitment Wall.” From eradicating insecurity and fixing roads to providing free education and helping widows, their pledges reflected a deep sense of civic duty.

Stakeholders praised the event’s inclusive impact. Mr. Benjamin Sorunke from the Ogun State Ministry of Education called it “nurturing and transformative,” while Mrs. Ogunmodede, also of the Ministry, noted how even adults left “enriched” by the experience.

Mrs. Adedolapo Osuntuyi, founder of Dolly Children Foundation, captured the essence of the day in her closing remarks: “It’s not about who won today. It’s about raising a generation that thinks, solves, and leads with compassion.”

The Ultimate Mind Challenge 2025 is set to become a landmark initiative in Ogun’s education landscape—one that celebrates intellect, inspires purpose, and lights the path for a brighter Nigeria.
