Orange Corners Nigeria (OCN), a youth-focused enterprise development initiative by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, has secured financial sponsorship from Stanbic IBTC, one of Nigeria’s leading financial services institutions. The move marks a strategic milestone in OCN’s mission to nurture young entrepreneurs and drive inclusive economic growth in Nigeria.
The new partnership was officially announced on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Victoria Island, Lagos, during a ceremony that brought together key stakeholders, including diplomats, executives, and beneficiaries of the programme.
OCN, launched in 2019 and implemented by FATE Foundation, supports early-stage entrepreneurs through a robust model that includes a business incubator, innovation fund, and student ambassador programme. Its core mission is to provide youth with access to training, mentorship, and funding needed to transform ideas into sustainable businesses.
Speaking at the event, Michel Deelen, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, reaffirmed the programme’s vision.
“Orange Corners is the expression of our belief in the youth of Nigeria. From inception, the goal was to collaborate with the private sector. We are very pleased to have found a partner in Stanbic IBTC,” he said.
Adenike Adeyemi, Executive Director of FATE Foundation, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the expanded capacity it brings to OCN.
“This partnership enables us to provide more comprehensive support, mentorship, and opportunities for growth, ultimately driving innovation and job creation in Nigeria,” she said.
Wole Adeniyi, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, emphasized the alignment between the partnership and the bank’s broader strategy to empower small and medium-sized businesses.
“We’re committed to catalysing more entrepreneurs and scaling youth-led enterprises. This aligns with our support for SMEs and helps us contribute to a more robust economy,” he noted.
The event also featured testimonials from current incubatees and alumni of the Orange Corners programme, who shared stories of how the initiative has helped them develop viable businesses despite prevailing economic challenges.
The partnership signifies a deepening of ties between the public and private sectors in driving entrepreneurship development. With Stanbic IBTC’s support, OCN is expected to reach more young Nigerians with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive economy.
FATE Foundation, Nigeria’s leading enterprise support organisation, continues to play a central role in delivering this impact, guided by its mission to foster wealth creation by promoting business and entrepreneurial development across the country.
