The Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Shemseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has pledged continued support for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), including the timely release of funds to support its operations and personnel entitlements.
Ogunjimi made the commitment during a working visit to the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Mr. Shehu Mohammed, at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
Commending the FRSC for its frontline role in promoting safety on Nigeria’s roads, the AGF emphasized the Treasury’s readiness to prioritize the agency’s financial needs.
“Your officers and men are always on the road working to keep Nigerians safe. For us at the Treasury, we understand the critical nature of your work and we will give all your requests prompt attention,” Ogunjimi assured.
He highlighted the longstanding cordial relationship between the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and the FRSC, promising that the collaboration would be strengthened further in the interest of public safety.
In his remarks, the Corps Marshal, Mr. Shehu Mohammed, expressed appreciation for the AGF’s visit and reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to its mandate of safeguarding lives on Nigerian roads.
Mohammed noted that road safety has become a global development priority and emphasized the need for sustained enforcement backed by adequate resources. He appealed for enhanced budgetary provisions and timely fund releases to address the Corps’ operational challenges.
“No road safety strategy can succeed without strong enforcement and institutional support. We thank the OAGF for standing by us and urge continued backing to help us deliver on our mandate,” he said.
The visit is part of ongoing inter-agency collaboration to improve efficiency and public service delivery across government institutions
