Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, Jumia, has announced the appointment of Temidayo Ojo as the new Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria, succeeding Sunil Natraj. The appointment marks a strategic move by the company to deepen its local leadership and drive long-term relevance, innovation, and growth in its largest and most competitive market.

Temidayo Ojo’s elevation to the top role is a significant milestone for Jumia, reflecting the company’s commitment to developing talent from within and empowering homegrown leaders who possess a deep understanding of regional business dynamics. Ojo brings with him a strong track record of performance across the West African e-commerce space, alongside a nuanced grasp of consumer behavior and operational excellence.

Since joining Jumia in 2020 as Head of Planning and Performance, Ojo has risen swiftly through the organization. He was later appointed Chief Commercial Officer, and most recently served as CEO of Jumia Ghana, where he led the company to record-breaking growth and operational success. His leadership in Ghana was credited with building a results-driven culture while driving customer satisfaction and partner confidence.

Speaking on his new role, Ojo described the opportunity as both an honor and a personal mission. “I am deeply honored to be entrusted with the leadership of Jumia Nigeria, a market that holds immense potential and strategic importance,” he said. “As someone who grew up in Nigeria and understands the unique needs of our customers and partners, this role is deeply personal to me. I look forward to working with our amazing team to drive greater impact, deepen customer trust, and take our business to new heights.”

Ojo holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance, Strategy, and Consulting from IESE Business School in Spain, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Lagos.

Welcoming the new appointee, Jumia Group CEO Francis Dufay described Temidayo as a dynamic leader whose energy, values, and business acumen make him the right choice to steer Jumia Nigeria through its next phase. Dufay emphasized that Ojo’s record in Ghana showed what was possible when a strong team is aligned behind a clear vision. He also extended appreciation to outgoing CEO Sunil Natraj, noting that his leadership helped navigate the Nigerian operation through a critical period of operational and economic turbulence.

Natraj is credited with restoring the Nigerian business to a growth path during a challenging economic environment, improving efficiencies, and rebuilding customer and merchant trust. His departure comes as Jumia enters a new chapter of strategic repositioning across its African markets.

In a related leadership transition, Seleem Musibau has been appointed as the new CEO of Jumia Ghana, succeeding Temidayo Ojo. Musibau’s appointment is expected to ensure continuity and sustained momentum in the Ghanaian market.

Jumia, which operates in multiple African countries, continues to focus on delivering value through innovation, operational discipline, and market-specific strategies. With Temidayo Ojo now leading its Nigerian operations, the company appears poised to consolidate its leadership in the region’s competitive digital commerce landscape
