President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Honourable Yahuza Ado Inuwa as the new Chairman of the Standards Council of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), marking a significant step in strengthening Nigeria’s national quality infrastructure.
The appointment has drawn commendation from stakeholders, including the management of SON, which described Inuwa as a seasoned administrator and visionary leader with a deep commitment to national development.
In a statement released on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Director General/Chief Executive of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, said Inuwa’s appointment comes at a critical time when the agency is intensifying its drive to enforce standardization and promote industrial competitiveness in line with international best practices.
“We are confident that with Alhaji Inuwa at the helm of our Standards Council, SON will continue to strengthen its impact in building a safer, more productive, and standards-compliant Nigeria,” Okeke said.
SON expressed optimism that Inuwa’s leadership would help consolidate its core mandate of safeguarding lives, supporting Made-in-Nigeria goods, and promoting a quality-driven economy.
The new chairman is expected to work closely with the Council and SON’s management to advance Nigeria’s standardization agenda for sustainable growth, industrial innovation, and global relevance.
