The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has wrapped up the fourth edition of its impactful three-month mentorship programme with a closeout ceremony at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.

The programme, which commenced on May 27, 2025, was specifically tailored for female students approaching graduation, providing them with real-world guidance and skills to prepare for life after university. Participants were drawn from diverse fields across the institution.

Delivering a keynote at the ceremony, Dr Ubon Udoh, MD/CEO of ASR Africa, emphasized the programme’s importance in building confidence, clarity, and a sense of purpose in young women. He praised Babcock University’s management for embracing the initiative and incorporating it into the students’ broader learning experience.

“This programme is about shaping futures,” Dr Udoh said. “We are equipping young women not just with information, but with the tools to make informed decisions, pursue excellence, and lead change.”

The mentorship covered a range of critical areas including career planning, financial literacy, time management, mental health, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Sessions combined group discussions with one-on-one mentoring from accomplished professionals across sectors such as public policy, media, business, and advocacy.

Students shared inspiring feedback, highlighting how the experience transformed their perspectives and empowered them to set clearer goals for their personal and professional lives.

Babcock joins a growing list of institutions impacted by ASR Africa’s mentorship outreach, including the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, Al-Qalam University, Katsina, and the University of Zambia.

The closeout ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of the mentees but also reinforced ASR Africa’s ongoing mission to invest in the next generation of African women leaders.
