Stanbic IBTC Bank, a member of Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, has launched APPbility, a new feature on its mobile banking platform designed to make digital banking more inclusive for persons living with disabilities.

The bank said APPbility was developed to ensure that customers with visual, hearing, cognitive, and mobility impairments can enjoy seamless and independent access to financial services. The initiative is part of Stanbic IBTC’s broader commitment to financial inclusion and accessible banking.

APPbility is now available on the bank’s mobile app for both Android and iOS users. It incorporates advanced accessibility tools such as screen reader compatibility, voice navigation, gesture-based controls, high-contrast display modes, larger text options, and audio cues—all tailored to support users with specific needs.

Executive Director of Stanbic IBTC Bank, Wole Adeniyi, described the launch as a bold move to democratize access to financial tools, stating that the bank is determined to ensure no Nigerian is left behind in the digital economy.

“This is more than a tech upgrade—it’s a human-centered innovation. With APPbility, we’re breaking down barriers to make digital banking truly inclusive,” Adeniyi said.

The feature was developed in line with international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), ensuring that it meets the highest standards of digital inclusivity.

Industry watchers and advocacy groups have praised the move, describing it as a benchmark for socially responsible innovation in Nigeria’s financial services sector. With APPbility, Stanbic IBTC has not only enhanced its user experience but also reaffirmed its position as a forward-thinking leader in digital banking.
