The Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has congratulated its immediate past Chairperson, Dr. Adeola Ekine, on her appointment as Special Adviser to the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahaya.

The announcement was made during the NUJ National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on August 12, 2025, in Kano State.

Dr. Ekine, a respected journalist and public affairs specialist, is known for her outstanding contributions to media development, gender equality, and women’s empowerment. She previously served as NAWOJ Lagos Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary of the NUJ Lagos Information Chapel.

Her leadership saw NAWOJ Lagos engage in strategic collaborations with public, private, and cultural organizations, including a courtesy visit to the Oba of Ikateland, fostering stronger ties to advance journalism and promote women’s voices in the industry.

Dr. Ekine holds an Honorary Doctoral Fellowship from the Institute of Public Sector Management (IPSM) and is a member of NAWOJ, NUJ, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and IPSM UK.

NAWOJ Lagos expressed confidence that her wealth of experience will be a valuable asset to the NUJ President in advancing the union’s vision and objectives nationwide.
