The Federal Government has directed the BisonFly Project team to accelerate implementation and ensure the full achievement of the initiative’s objectives, highlighting the project’s strategic importance in optimizing government expenditure.

The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, issued the charge during a meeting with key stakeholders at his Abuja office. Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Mr. Raymond Omenka Omachi, Edun stressed the importance of timely execution and measurable outcomes.

The BisonFly Project is a digital, centralized platform aimed at reducing official air travel costs across Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Through technology-enabled booking and centralized management, the initiative is expected to generate annual savings of ₦18–24 billion by securing discounted fares and improving efficiency.

“Project BisonFly directly supports our commitment to prudent financial management,” Edun said. “By coordinating travel and leveraging collective bargaining power, we are cutting costs while improving service delivery—similar to best practices adopted by global institutions such as the World Bank.”

Officials believe the successful rollout of BisonFly will enhance transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility within the Federal Civil Service, while also contributing to job creation, public sector productivity, and broader economic growth.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to monitoring progress closely and ensuring the project delivers tangible results for Nigerians.
