The ancient town of Owu-Akinale in Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State, is set to witness a historic coronation on Saturday, August 30, 2025, as His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Oluseyi Ayodeji Adewole Adediran, will be officially installed as the Otileta I, Towulade of Owu-Akinale.
The event, disclosed in a statement by Aare Kazeem Bakinson, chairman of the planning committee, will take place at Baptist Primary School, Owu-Akinale, starting at 10 a.m. The ceremony will combine royal pomp with community development initiatives, including the turning of sod for the Akinale Mini Health Centre, commissioning of a borehole water project, and the launch of an Education Trust Fund Project.
The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, will serve as Chief Host. Notable dignitaries expected include Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (Father of the Day), Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and cultural icon Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, among others. Kazeem Odeyeyiwa, CEO of Raptor Group Limited, will be Special Guest of Honour.
The coronation is anticipated to draw traditional rulers, political leaders, captains of industry, cultural enthusiasts, and indigenes of Owu Kingdom from home and abroad.
The planning committee described Oba Adediran’s installation as “a new dawn of leadership, cultural renaissance, and development for the community.”
