The Gold City Event Centre, Ilesa, will on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, host a historic convergence as Ijesaland honours Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi (AOF) at 70. Beyond a milestone birthday, the celebration doubles as the official launch of the Ijesa Development Fund (IDF), under the royal seal of His Imperial Majesty, Owa Obokun Adimula, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III.
The day begins at 10:00 a.m. with a symposium themed “IDF Project Operations and Management.” Stepping beyond the role of celebrant, Asiwaju Fasuyi will deliver the keynote lecture, outlining the operational framework of IDF with emphasis on transparency, accountability, and community-driven impact. His presentation is expected to serve as both a roadmap for sustainable development and a clarion call to Ijesa indigenes to embrace a shared vision.
The highlight of the launch is the presentation of ICDA-IDF cheques to ward executives across the six Local Government Areas of Ijesaland. This inaugural disbursement signals a decisive move from vision to implementation, setting the pace for grassroots projects in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. With the endorsement of Owa Haastrup and the presence of distinguished leaders, the initiative is framed as a binding social contract for the future of Ijesaland.
Sir Folu Olamiti, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Planning Committee, captured the moment as “a convergence of honour, vision, and action—where ideas meet implementation and leadership meets legacy.”
For many, this is more than the fifth day of a birthday celebration. It is a generational turning point, institutionalising a community-driven model for development. The festivities will conclude with a vibrant social evening, headlined by the Ijesa Juju Music Queen, Sola Testimony Band.
What makes the occasion remarkable is its blend of compassion and foresight—a rare fusion of royalty, intellect, and collective aspiration. For Ijesaland, AOF @70 will be remembered not just for glamour, but for charting a new developmental path and etching history in motion.
