The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has equipped entrepreneurs with essential knowledge and skills for international trade at the maiden Lagos Mainland Trade Fair held in Ikeja.

Senior Trade Officers of NEPC, Nancy Okpa and Olamide Olatunde, said the initiative was part of the council’s efforts to enhance the export capacity of local businesses and promote non-oil trade.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Olori Janet Mba-Afolabi, Media Personality and Queen of Apomu Kingdom in Osun, commended NEPC for reducing Nigeria’s vulnerability to oil price fluctuations by promoting non-oil exports. She expressed optimism that such efforts would boost the nation’s foreign exchange earnings.

Lawyer-turned-entrepreneur, Monalisa Aze, whose company Mona Matthews curated the event, lauded the initiative for giving vendors confidence and practical knowledge to navigate the exportation process. She said the fair exceeded expectations, bringing together passionate entrepreneurs determined to expand their businesses globally.

The event also featured sensitisation sessions by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), which stressed the importance of product registration and compliance with international standards.

No fewer than 100 entrepreneurs and vendors showcased goods and services, attracting a large audience that included popular gospel singer Tope Alabi.

Entrepreneurs like Enobong Ezekiel, CEO of Coreal8, praised the organisers for creating a vibrant and supportive platform that fostered meaningful connections with customers and partners.

The fair, according to participants, signaled a new momentum for entrepreneurial growth and opportunities for international market access.
