The convener of the National Teachers’ Conference, education advocate Oluwaseyi Anifowose, has entered the Guinness World Records after organizing the largest gathering of teachers in recorded history.

The milestone event, which brought together thousands of teachers from across Nigeria last weekend September 20 2025, was officially certified by Guinness World Records, marking a historic first for the country.

Anifowose, who has long championed education reform and teacher empowerment, described the achievement as a collective victory for Nigerian educators.

“This record is not just about setting history; it is about restoring pride to the teaching profession,” he said. “Teachers are the foundation of every society, and empowering them is the only way to secure a better future for our children.”

Organizers explained that the conference was designed to spotlight the role of teachers in nation-building, encourage professional development, and inspire more investment in the education sector.

Education stakeholders, present at the event, hailed Anifowose’s efforts, calling the recognition a turning point for teachers in Nigeria and beyond.
