The Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service has suspended the screening and reappointment of Charles Emukowhate as Commissioner for Finance at the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).

The committee’s decision, taken on Thursday, followed petitions alleging that Emukowhate holds dual public appointments and failed to properly render financial accounts.

According to the petition, Emukowhate is said to be simultaneously serving as a board member of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) while occupying a position at PENCOM — a situation that contravenes public service regulations.

The committee said it would investigate the allegations before proceeding with the screening and confirmation process.
