TotalEnergies has officially launched the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Trophy Tour in Lagos, Nigeria, marking the start of a continent-wide celebration ahead of the tournament in Morocco this December.
The Lagos event, held on October 29, 2025, brought together football fans, dignitaries, and media personalities to witness the unveiling of the prestigious AFCON trophy, symbolizing unity, passion, and the spirit of African football.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Samba Seye, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, said the company was proud to host the first leg of the tour in Nigeria—a country that has played a defining role in African football history.
“Being a partner of African football is a great source of pride. Football is a universal, unifying sport that embodies joy, enthusiasm, and energy,” he said.
The 2025 Trophy Tour will travel across five African countries—Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, and Morocco—allowing millions of fans to experience the excitement ahead of AFCON Morocco 2025, which will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
TotalEnergies, which has been CAF’s official partner since 2016, recently extended its sponsorship agreement to 2028. The partnership aims to promote unity, youth empowerment, and African excellence through sport.
From Lagos, the trophy will journey across the continent, inspiring fans and igniting anticipation for what promises to be one of Africa’s most spectacular football tournaments.
