The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, on Friday led a delegation of prominent Southeast business leaders on a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to strengthen collaboration between the Federal Government, Lagos State, and the private sector on economic growth and national development.
Speaking during the visit, Uzoka-Anite praised Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership and the remarkable progress Lagos has made in infrastructure, innovation, and enterprise. She conveyed the warm greetings of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, while commending Lagos for its consistent cooperation with the Federal Government on key initiatives, including the Lagos Green Line Metro Rail Project.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deeply values Lagos’ collaborative spirit and pragmatic governance. When federal and state governments work together, progress becomes achievable and sustainable,” she said.
Uzoka-Anite used the visit to introduce the Government and Private Sector (GPS) Dialogue Series, an initiative designed to foster continuous engagement between policymakers and business leaders. The inaugural edition will hold on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja.
“The idea behind the GPS Dialogue is to create a trusted platform where policy meets practice — a space for honest discussions that generate practical solutions for inclusive growth,” she said.
The Minister also introduced Southeast business leaders residing in Lagos who joined the visit, describing them as symbols of Nigerian entrepreneurship contributing to Lagos’s economic vibrancy. She reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering small and medium enterprises and expanding access to finance.
In his response, Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the delegation and pledged Lagos State’s continued collaboration with the Federal Government and the private sector. He commended Uzoka-Anite for selecting Lagos to host the maiden GPS Dialogue and assured that his administration would support initiatives that promote unity, innovation, and prosperity.
The visiting business leaders also proposed the establishment of a Lagos–Igbo Consultative Council to deepen cooperation between the state government and the Southeast business community.
As the Federal Government, Lagos State, and private sector leaders strengthen collaboration, stakeholders expressed optimism that the partnership will drive investment, innovation, and inclusive growth across the country.
