The General Manager Lagos State Printing Corporation (LSPC), Hon. Dr. Kolawole Peregrino, has called for deliberate policy alignment and financial inclusion to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s printing and publishing industry.

Speaking at the Printing, Publishing and Allied Group Seminar of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Henry Fajemirokun Hall, Commerce House, Victoria Island, Lagos, Dr. Peregrino—who was ably represented by his Special Adviser, Legal, Barrister Kayode Tinubu, emphasised that the printing industry remains a strategic pillar for national development, despite facing numerous operational challenges.

Delivering a paper on the sub-theme, “Unlocking Nigeria’s Printing and Publishing Potential: Policy Pathways and Financial Solutions,” the LSPC General Manager noted that the sector plays a critical role in supporting education, governance, communication, and commerce, yet continues to grapple with high production costs, foreign exchange volatility, and limited access to financing.

Dr. Peregrino advocated for fiscal policies that encourage local production of printing consumables such as paper, inks, and plates. He stressed the need for financial institutions to view the printing and publishing value chain as a viable investment ecosystem, recommending the creation of tailored financial products, leasing options for machinery, and cooperative financing models for small and medium-scale print entrepreneurs.

Highlighting the Lagos State Printing Corporation as a case study in innovation-driven reform, Dr. Peregrino explained that through strategic rebranding, technological upgrades, and capacity development, the Corporation has successfully repositioned itself as a modern, competitive press serving both government and private clients.

He also underscored the importance of collaboration between government agencies, academic institutions, and private printers to stimulate knowledge exchange, promote local research, and advance sustainability practices within the industry.

In conclusion, Dr. Peregrino reaffirmed LSPC’s commitment to partnering with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other stakeholders to drive sectoral reforms. “Unlocking Nigeria’s printing and publishing potential requires the right policies, affordable financing, modern technology, and skilled manpower. If these elements are harmonised, our industry can become a major driver of economic growth and creative empowerment,” he stated.
